Dear BBPS Family:

Friday Afternoon I received confirmation of repeal of Emergency Rules from Texas Health & Human Services. My first reaction was great we can allow parents back in the building, which we feel helps strengthen the personal relationship we have of caring for their child. This morning my Texas Childcare Licensing representative presented this information to me differently, that while I cannot prohibit a parent from entering the building, we should continue practices that discourage entrance to the building, and restricting exposure as much as possible as the pandemic is not over nor will it be over anytime soon.

Some families that have been with us for years are completely comfortable with not coming in the facility to drop off or pick up their children. Some newer families to BBPS, do not know us as well and are possibly not as comfortable.

In trying to achieve limitation of parents in the facility (where they are comfortable) and allowing access if they want to come in, I have come up with a plan that I think will provide both, limiting access and ability to form relationships with teachers that may not have previously existed for our newer families.

DROP OFF FROM 7-9AM:

Drop Off DRIVE THROUGH LANE- if you want us to bring your child in to their classroom please come through the Drive Through Carport. You will pull up get your child out of the car and Krista (or a designated staff) will come and take their temp, and get them into their classrooms.

If you would like to come in the facility and drop your child off personally, you will need to park in the parking lot and wear a mask to enter the building, you will need to stop by Krista so she can check your child’s temp on the way in. Adults are to wear a mask, not the child, please do not bring siblings or guests in to drop off. We would like to afford you the opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher, and the feel of the classroom, but requiring a mask for adults dropping off and requesting short drop off to limit exposure to the school. This will also allow for a parent to come in and speak with their child’s Lead Teacher in the morning, if there is a question or concern, that may occasionally arise.

PICK UP:

Pick up from the school will remain the same as we have been practicing since March 16, pull up or walk up and I (or a designated staff person) will retrieve your child and deliver them to the porch. We have been working on only letting one family out the door at a time during pick up. Please physically hold your child in the parking lot, it can be a hectic time and I want to make sure that everyone is safe.

I am implementing this plan after much thought over the weekend, I want to keep our children and staff as safe as possible, limiting exposure and requiring masks for parents along with not gathering for special events, continuing to take temps, copiously washing hands, daily sanitation, bathrooms cleaned 3 times as day and requiring 72 hours fever and symptom free (unmedicated) unless released by a doctor to return to school will all help keep us as safe as possible, while still providing a positive preschool experience that families need. Since March 16, we have had only 2 ear infections and 1 24-hour stomach bug for all of the children in the whole facility. Something is going right with the way we are handling things. Please read and sign the addendum to the operational polices and return signed acknowledgement to Carrie or Krista. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding, we are doing everything we can to keep BBPS safe for your children and the staff.

Please read our original Covid-19 addendum which updates our operational procedures due to Covid 19.
